Raw Sacramento News Newsletter to Raw
Sacramento Sunday, June 20, 2004
A scene from our May 2004
Raw Potluck at the home of Karen B. Join us on July 11 for our
July Potluck I am devoting this entire
newsletter to a description of the
Modern Manna Health and
Healing Crusade which starts this Thursday, June 24. I urge you to
attend! You will be glad you did. This is the premiere annual
conference in the world dealing with diet and health. It is free...it is
practically in your back yard. It will draw thousands of people due to
it's superb speakers and exhibitors. I am writing this on Sunday, June 20. I
salute and greet every FATHER in our group! Fathers are foundational to who we
become. I hope that each of you have taken time to honor your Father figures
today….even if you have had to be your own Father. Friends, I am writing because I see a great
opportunity for each of you to hear world-class health speakers a scant 35 miles
South of Sacramento later this week. I urge you to take advantage of this
entirely FREE opportunity. I have known Dr. Alan Goldhamer since meeting him
10 years ago in Ft. Lauderdale at the American Natural Hygiene Society’s Annual
Conference. He is one of the best-informed and most articulate natural health
speakers in the world. He is a practicing natural hygiene doctor with a fasting
clinic near Santa Rosa, CA. I met Dr. T. Colin Campbell, director of the
largest and most significant dietary study ever conducted at another such
conference the following year in Orlando. Dr. Campbell, director of The
Cornell, Oxford, China study is without question the most credible and astute
nutritional expert in the world. His study is the most important dietary study
ever undertaken. T. Colin
Campbell, Ph.D. holds an endowed professorship at Cornell University and is
world- renowned for his research of chronic degenerative diseases, particularly
as they relate to nutrition. He has published more than 300 scientific articles;
the research that is most often cited pertains to the ongoing, 16 year research
collaboration in China, "The China Project", focusing on the effects of
nutrition and other lifestyle factors on the incidence of cancer and other
chronic diseases. Neither of these
deserving scholars are household names because neither has aligned themselves
with corporate sponsors. Their research, therefore is untainted by commercial
interest. Sadly, it is also not widely disseminated for the same reason. Yet,
the information they have can change your life for the better. Here is what the
New York Times called the ‘China’ Study:
"The 'Grand Prix'...the most comprehensive large study
ever undertaken of the relationship between diet and the risk of developing
disease...tantalizing findings." Here are two of the more intriguing
findings of the China Study: "There is no threshold of health
improvement as one removes animal products from the diet: "Our study suggests
that the closer one approaches a total plant-food diet, the greater the health
benefit." “Consumption of cooked animal-based
proteins are more closely correlated to cancer than is consumption of dietary
fat.” Get more information on the China Study

Modern Manna Health & Healing Crusade to be held in Lodi from Thursday, June 24
through Sunday June 27:
http://modernmanna.org/crusade_schedule.asp The crusade is a free event. It is
sponsored by a Christian organization. At times they will sing a hymn prior to
a presentation. At times it will seem a little like church. They ‘pass the
plate’ to give opportunity for those who wish to financially support the
crusade. If you are a very devout atheist, as one famous friend of mine is, you
could probably still tolerate the ‘churchiness’ of the conference because the
speakers and information they will share are so excellent. But, I believe most
people, even if they hold Christianity in contempt, would find the event to be
excellent. (A Christian myself, I agree with many inside & outside the
church that much of what passes for Christianity SHOULD be held in contempt).
But, I believe most folks regardless of their religious preference, would enjoy
this conference. The conference is held in Lodi at the Grape
Festival grounds (their county fairgrounds). Many free events gouge you for
parking or food. Not here. Not only is the parking free, you can set up a
tent, use shower/bath facilities entirely for free for all 4 days of the
event. If you have an RV you can park it there for just $15/night and many people do.
At other such conferences I have paid $800 or more to attend, and half that for
airfare. Modern Manna’s Health and Healing Crusade is the best of the events of
this genre, and a great bargain, besides. It’s also in our back yard--I consider
it a must-attend event. Besides the two speakers I’ve mentioned,
they will feature Dr. John McDougall
http://www.drmcdougall.com/ Dr. Lorraine Day
http://www.drday.com; Charlotte Gerson
http://www.gerson.org/ Robert Cohen
www.notmilk.com Howard Lyman
http://www.madcowboy.com. The event will draw thousands of people.
There will be a large exhibit hall with vendor booths selling books, cassettes,
supplements, etc. Meals and snacks can be purchased on site. All food is
vegan (though not all is raw). On Saturday the exhibit hall is only open after
the last speaker from 8:30pm to 10pm. Looking at the schedule I note that the 2
speakers I discussed earlier, Dr. Goldhamer and Dr. Campbell, will both be
speaking ONLY on Thursday. Also, there is a raw food demo at 2:30pm.
Therefore, if you can only make 1 day, I think Thursday may be among the best.
I am sending this message out on Sunday
evening in case some of you wish to request the day off Thursday. Please look
over the schedule yourself--you may find speakers or topics which especially
appeal to you. Schedule:
http://modernmanna.org/crusade_schedule.asp Audio and VHS tapes will be available of all
the sessions. People attend this event from all over California. The
denomination to which Modern Manna is most closely aligned is Seventh Day
Adventist, and there is a fairly high participation from this demographic (this
is why the exhibit hall is closed on Saturday: it is ‘Sabbath’ to the SDA
denomination, and some others). This will be my 4th year
attending the Healing Crusade. I consider it an outstanding opportunity to
learn how to improve your health and extend your life, and improve your quality
of life. Kind regards,
Modern Manna
