Sacramento Friday, December 26, 2003
I hope you are
enjoying wonderful
and meaningful holidays! Janet A., now
100% raw for 8 months, wanted me to send a cordial invitation to our
January 2004 Raw Potluck which
will be held at her home in Sacramento just off Elkhorn Blvd. near Don Julio on
Sunday, January 11. Recall that
Paul Nison will be
in Sacramento on January 19. Mark your calendar. Details and
location here. RSVP is requested. Cost $8. Paul has now written 3 books on raw foods
and I believe anyone who comes to this event will find it helpful and
inspirational.
Agenda will be an optional potluck beginning at 6:00. Cleanup after the
potluck must begin at 6:40. Please do not be late. Paul will speak from
7:00 to 8:45pm.
Are you heading to a holiday dinner? Would you like to bring a
delicious raw pumpkin pie? Our talented and beautiful Phyllis Polito
delighted us at the December Holiday Potluck with her Raw Pumpkin Pie recipe
developed by the Graffs. With the Graff's permission, here is their
pumpkin pie recipe. Also, I have
added a number of holiday-appropriate recipes including 6-7 from Nomi Shannon
(soups & desserts). All of the Holiday Recipes are at the very top of our
Recipes page. Sometimes you
get good feedback. And, that's what 2 of our raw-fooders got this
week. Winnie Comstock-Carlson, raw for 5 months, and Mark Blackburn, raw
for 5 years were tested with about 15 others at the offices of
Comstock's Business
Magazines in Sacramento for their level of antioxidants, an approximation of
the strength of one's immune system. Dan Brooks, an independent
distributor for Pharmanex, explained that the following scores had the
following meanings: I was frankly
apprehensive as I saw others get scores like 10, 14, 17, 20, 22, and 25.
After approximately 15 individuals were tested, the highest score achieved was
a 35. Then, our raw fooders took their turn. Winnie got an outstanding
53, and Mark an impressive 82! Do raw foods have a place in increasing
your anti-oxidants, and, in turn, your immune system strength? The
tests conducted on Wednesday seem to suggest it. We may try to have
Dan Brooks come to one of our potlucks and offer these scans. Read more
about this test here.
Dan can be contacted at 916-308-6339. Where to buy
Coconuts--I have defrocked SF Market. Don't shop there!
Here's why. Why would you want
to eat coconuts? They are among the healthiest, most anti-viral, foods on
Earth. They are the best source of MCFA's (medium chain fatty acids) which
support the brain & nervous system.

American Style--According to a recently published book by 5 collaborating
doctors, entitled "Death By Medicine" doctors kill more people than all other
causes of death in America--a staggering 1 million Americans per year.
Many times this are injured or maimed by their doctors. Deaths and
injuries caused by doctors are greatly under-reported for reasons which should
be obvious. The figure reported (the tip of the iceberg) is equivalent to 6 jumbo jets crashing every day.
Do you think many people would continue flying? No, the FAA would close every
airport in America. (Maybe they should do this with government-licensed
physician's offices).
Dr. Mercola's review of Death by Medicine. Get Well & Be
Healthy! Attend 10 consecutive Monday evenings
raw food support classes. This is an
excellent curriculum with great video presentations, raw food samples and demos.
Outstanding class taught by Brenda Kent.

(This is usually a great event-Mark). Can you help Raw
Sacramento? Here are 2 ways
you could help Raw Sacramento: 1. Hosting a
2004 Potluck I have updated our
potluck schedule indicating the dates in 2004
for potlucks. What we need now are homes at which we could have these
potlucks. Our participation is trending up—our November potluck had 40
individuals. If you are the host, you do not need to prepare a dish. And,
you don't need to drive. The food comes to you! Here's some
information about hosting a potluck.
2. Writing a Raw Food Testimony
Have you eaten exclusively Raw Foods for at least 2 months? Did you
experience any health improvements? Would you be willing to write a 'Raw
Food Testimony?" We would like to post more of these. If you
have concrete, documentable health improvements and can write a few paragraphs
about your experience, it may influence and help others. Would you please
send us
your Testimony?
Do you need a personal raw food coach? We have a couple
in Sacramento. Here's Shar.
Here's Maya.
